Start Your ApplicationWho We Serve
Remembering Those We Lost provides headstones at no cost to families of victims of violent crime who do not have a permanent grave marker. Our goal is to ensure that every victim is remembered with dignity.
Eligibility Requirements
All of the following criteria must be met for an application to be considered.
Victim of Violent Crime
The deceased must have been a victim of a violent crime, including but not limited to homicide, manslaughter, or other acts of violence resulting in death.
No Existing Permanent Marker
The grave must not currently have a permanent headstone or grave marker. Temporary markers do not disqualify an application.
Verified Burial Location
The applicant must be able to provide the name and location of the cemetery where the deceased is buried, including the section, lot, block, and grave number if known.
Authorized Applicant
The person submitting the application must be a family member or legally authorized representative of the deceased.
No Provocation or Participation
A victim that provoked, incited, or participated in the criminal conduct that led to their death, does not qualify for application submission.
Complete Documentation
Applicants must provide a copy of the death certificate and any available documentation confirming the violent nature of the death (such as a police report or news article).
What Is Not Required
- There is no income or financial requirement to apply.
- There is no geographic restriction — we serve families nationwide.
- There is no time limit on how long ago the death occurred.
